At times a little overwritten but on the other hand nice to get lengthy descriptions. I wish the author could vary the he said, she said though. Audio delivery good but the chapter announcements are way too cheery.

The book was quite boring, and the audiobook narrator is awful. He had already ruined “The Marvellous Light” by Freya Marske for me. I should have checked the audiobook narrator before wasting a credit on this

I didn’t enjoy this book. The plot was contrived and not believable.

Too long.  Useless information about the main detective.  More useless information about other detectives.

I have read and enjoyed other books by Ross Greenwood and was really looking forward to reading this. I was not disappointed. The book opens with a grisly double murder and you are immediately hooked. We are introduced to DS Ashley Knight and other colleagues as other murders happen and ominous graffiti appears in the town foretelling future deaths. The list of suspects grows, as do the number of further grisly murders, as the book moves on and the reader is pulled in different directions. There is a link to an event a number of years ago but what is the link? I enjoyed finding out!

I enjoyed the thriller element of the book and particularly the relationship between Ashley and Hector and her neighbours. I hope that these are explored further in future books.

I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a thriller.

I was really excited to discover another series by Ross Greenwood. His D.I. Barton books are some of my favourites. While this one was fine, I didn’t get the same level of intensity and intrigue that I’m used to from this author. That said, I’m probably still continue the series.
