The Killing Type by Jane Corry

A great quick read from Jane Corry, who, ever since her debut novel My Husband's Wife I've followed religiously. Only taking around half hour to read it's ideal for your coffee break or in my case a break from revision!

Two sisters, only 14 months apart but as different as chalk and cheese, they have never seen eye to eye so when Danielle contacts Susie out of the blue asking for her help she finds herself intrigued enough to put their differences aside. But what she tells her seems so unbelievable, can it really be true?

Who is capable of what? Is anyone what and who they really seem? These questions and more are asked and answered in typical Corry fashion, with the most unlikely outcome being the road taken. Loved it!

I finished this novella before I had even realised it! It was enthralling from the start wondering what was happening with Danielle, Susie, her sister and Simon, Danielle’s husband. The next twenty minutes of my life flew.

When Danielle thinks Simon is trying to kill her and Susie doesn’t believe her, well, you know the fallout will never be good.

I would love to have read this as a full novel rather than a snappy novella as the premise was intriguing and would be so fascinating in a full feature but I did thoroughly enjoy this bitesize version. Plus that ending! It almost makes you question if Ms Corry was writing some truth in this story.

This novella has enticed me to check out Ms Corry’s other book and will be increasing my ever growing TBR list! In fact, I have the Dead Ex to read!!

The Killing Type is a short story about two sisters named Susie and Danielle. The barely speak to one another, but Susie is the first person Danielle turns to when she becomes convinced her husband, Simon, is trying to hurt her. Neither Susie, nor the police, believe Danielle's claims. A few months later, someone dies, and only one question remains. Was it an accident—or murder?

This is one of the best short stories I'm truly impressed that such a compelling story with amazingly clever twists was accomplished with such brevity. I've read full-length novels that were nowhere near this unputdownable.

If you're a fan of short stories, do give this one a try. I have a feeling you'll love it!

I received an advance reading copy of this book courtesy of Penguin via Netgalley.

Super-Quick Psychological Suspense.

A fun, intriguing amusing short story, that’s deliciously devious, with a satisfying conclusion. Fans of Jane Corry will get a kick out of it! Also includes a sneak peek of Corry’s upcoming novel ‘The Dead-Ex’. Free to download for kindle. Enjoy!
