Great start to a really promising series. I'm looking forward to more!

We dig into the new Disney ere of Star Wars novels in this episode: https://soundcloud.com/allthebooks/episode-68-altering-the-deal

Loved it. Wouldn't change a thing.

Excellent series of comics. Captures the tone and spirit of the original trilogy characters. Looking forward to the rest of this series; I think it will really flesh out some of our favorite characters.

It was great to go back and read through these having just seen the last episode in the Skywalker Saga.

This is a fun and pretty straightforward story that fills in the gaps between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Jason Aaron really nails the dialogue and tone of the characters. John Cassaday's art is very dynamic and captures the style of the original movies while pushing out out into some new territory as well. This is definitely the best of the first wave of Marvel Star Wars comics.

I wasn't entirely convinced that a new story set between Episodes IV and V could be compelling. The original films are so ingrained into my consciousness that I, at some point, decided that I knew everything I needed to know about Luke, Leia and Han in that era. But apparently there are still a lot of stories to be told, and this one is a very very entertaining one.

Every character gets a moment to shine during this arc. The interplay between Luke and Vader is at the center, of course (my favourite moment is when Vader discovers that Luke is - SPOILER ALERT! - his son). The Han and Leia banter is particularly charming.

There is one jarring moment when Luke gets himself into a seemingly impossible scrape and then turns up two panels later safe and sound on the Millennium Falcon, without further explanation as to how he made it out of the danger zone with his life. He, of course, is wearing vibranium plot armour, but that's no excuse for a lack of logic in the dramatic sequences.

OH MAN. Review to come, I have a lot to say and it's all good!

First off, this is set between A New Hope and Empire, which is awesome. The art is fantastic; it feels exciting and action packed, and looks like the Star Wars I know and love. It also SOUNDS like the Star Wars I know and love- the dialogue is amazing!! Each character's personality is captured to a T- Han and Leia have the best banter. It feels seamless while we're still getting an "unknown" story. And the Vader-Tattooine issue! Some truly chilling panels. So. Good. The volume ends on a super surprising note so I can't wait to read Volume 2! This is the kind of Star Wars comic I was looking for ;)

This was a very fun time! I decided to go through this series since I downloaded Libby to help me read more instead of just doomscrolling, and this was much more fun than doomscrolling lol I love all the interactions between Han & Leia, feels very on point for what they'd be like right after ANH. Anyways, I'm curious to see what this series is like, and to see the vibe of what early new EU comics were like.
