Fun, but not extremely awesome. The comic was too short to really reveal an exciting plot.

My love of Star Wars has been reignited lately, between TFA coming out later this year, and my husband and I just rewatched the films recently, for the first time in a while. I really enjoyed this book - the characters feel authentic, the art is gorgeous, and it's fun to have some of the gaps filled in! My favorite bits are the Han & Leia bits, of course, but I really enjoy all of the Luke, too. Just all of it, really.

Everything about this comic exuded the same feel of the movies! The action, the snarky banter, the dangerous peril, but it adds to the collective Star Wars narrative. We delve into more backstory, connected relationships, and personal struggles. It is an excellent way to fill in the blanks between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back and it doesn't feel forced.

Every single character came to life just as if I was watching them on screen. Han and Leia's interaction was depicted so well especially when on their solo mission together. C-3P0 was at his finest trying to manage the Millenium Falcon and R2 is still there to save the day. Luke, reeling from the loss of Ben Kenobi seeks answers and struggles in his belief. Every issue was just so good!

If your a Star Wars fan you should definitely be reading all of Marvel's adventures in a galaxy far far away. Skywalker Strikes is an excellent starting point bringing the whole gang back together and exploring their lives more in depth. The writing is excellent and the art superb.

Each chapter has another OG character included, even if it doesn't make sense.

Marvel loves beating up Vader, this starts that tradition.

Vader/Jabba scenes were boring, but Fett/Luke scenes were better.

Wow! Maybe Jason Aaron should have written The Force Awakens! Here, the write perfectly captures the atmosphere of the first films while not being too fanboy. Honestly, if this had been the script for the movie after A New Hope, everyone would have been happy. Amazingly John Cassaday captures the original actors' looks while not looking like stiff portraits. Overall, a simply fantastic addition to a great property.

4.5 stars -- wow I loved it! the artwork was gorgeous and the story had me captivated. loved the snark between Leia and Han, it was just so spot on and so THEM. I can't wait to read the next volume! I want to go rewatch all the movies now.

Takes place after episode 4 and before episode 5. Fun little fill-in story with all our our favorite characters. Kudos to Jason Aaron.
