I love that the person who didn't seem to be a suspect is the culprit. One of these days maybe I'll figure it out! :)
mysterious fast-paced

This novel was not my favorite for Christie, by far. I kind of guessed the murderer at one stage, but red herrings are flying everywhere here. There are also some cases of last-minute revelations that I thought should come earlier. I will clearly be continuing with the Poirot novels, but this one borders on being a Poirot-lite book with the great detective only appearing significantly in the last parts of the book. It is a purely psychological study of a family under a tyrannical mother and the people she has manipulated over time. It was not of the caliber I expected, but I continue forward.
mysterious

i was just willing to accept she died of natural causes because i hated her that much, rip to Poirot but i'm not that morally invested.

✭✭✭✭✭ overall!

This has definitely been my favourite Christie novel that I've read so far. Yet again, my guess for the murderer was completely off

Not my favorite Poirot but it was still pretty fun. It starts with him overhearing a snippet of conversation "You see that she has to be killed" and initially passing it off as a frustrated author trying to kill off a character. When coincidence puts him in contact with the person who uttered those words right after a mysterious death as occurred, Poirot is determined to figure out the truth.
