Fun little coming-of-age; heavy on the parental issues, light on the romantical stuff. Loved the food service argot.

I loved this book. It was a quick, easy read.... it kept the interest up... there was humor, drama, warm fuzzy moments, hard times... it really had everything. I liked all the characters and it was fun learning about what it's like to be a waitress. You also learn a lot about campaigning, but at no point does it get boring. Awesome book.

Great book to read on a hard day! Just a feel-good read.

For some reason when the weather turns warmer, I want to re-read books that I during summer breaks. Joan Bauer is one of the authors I would read. Anyway, it was a great way to spend Easter afternoon to read this heartwarming coming of age story.

Loved this book as a preteen. Didn’t age perfectly, and as an adult I don’t find it completely realistic, but it’s still a joy to read. The writing style is so fun and really captures Hope’s plucky voice. I didn’t recall the plot having not read it in 20 years or so but I remembered all the characters. They’re that lovable. YA, a hi-lo read, not inappropriate for strong middle grade readers.
Graphic: Cancer, Death of parent
Moderate: Violence, Grief
Minor: Abandonment
This book was probably close to one of my most favorite books ever! It is soo cute and just amazing!

I bought this book thinking I had read it before, but I realize I never finished it back at West Hills. I’ll be annotating it for Ms Brown… I hope she likes it
