This was really fun.
You don’t have to read the first book in the series but it does really help with the character dynamics. I read the first in the series but it’s been over a year so I forgot so much of it. Some of the time I felt a bit lost, even with the foot notes.
I will say that I preferred the first book in the series. This one felt a little too goofy? Or something like that? Not sure but over all a cozy mystery and a fun read! I would continue with this series for sure.

I hadn't read the first installment in The Vacation Mysteries, so it took me a little while to get connected to the story, but overall, it was good. You do not need to have read it, but it would help to understand some of the background of the main characters. It's a funny, cozy mystery, but I felt there were a few too many misdirects and asides (footnotes in the physical copy) to push it into greatness.

Such a silly, goofy, fun time! I love her writing style and the footnotes, it’s very funny and self-aware which I appreciate. Eleanor isn’t a very likable character, but because she’s aware and funny it makes you like her. The actual story was ridiculous and confusing, it got hard to follow the longer it went on, but I guessed Simone was going to be involved pretty early on . I’ve had a good time reading these and they’ve been easy reads, so I’m looking forward to the next book!
