I. LOVE. MARCUS. No, let’s start over, I am head over heels in love with Marcus. He may consider himself a realist, but to me, he’s the swooniest, most romantic, sweetest person in the world. His love for his friends endeared me and it was his absolute care and adoration for Kai that had me wanting to fall in love with him every day. I can think of no other person more perfect for him than Kai.
“Yep. You’re definitely in Bossy Marcus mode.”
“Baby boy, even when I don’t show it, I’m in Bossy Marcus mode.”
Isn’t he the most? I love how Kai refuses to be anyone except who he is, and let’s face it, why would he? He’s the best and I adore him, adore him more than I have the words to say. If Marcus hadn’t claimed him so thoroughly—and, mmm, that’s another review altogether—I would have reached through the pages to keep him myself. These two had my heart swooning from beginning to end. Their playful antics delighted, their honesty touched my heart, and their devotion to each other will follow me into my dreams. I wish I could read their love story with anew each time. Thankfully, I can reread them and fall in love again and again, and there’s more because Corbin is next and I cannot wait to for the Charmer to find his match.

I love this series! Each book is very cute with the typical light and lovely romances you can expect from this author.
Loved loved the ace shout out in one of their podcast discussions. More and more I am seeing asexuality get brought up and represented in romance books and god it makes me so happy. Also the random facts of queer history thrown into each book is honestly cool, I'd love to see that in more books. It's funny because I didn't expect it but I actually really like the vibe the podcast gives this series, it adds such a good dimension to each story.
Honestly it took me a while to feel the chemistry between these too, I'm not a huge fan of over the top flirty MCs but by page 150 I was hooked and head over heels. I think I just needed to see them interacting for awhile before the romance felt real. By the end I was utterly enchanted by both of them. Marcus is so sweet and his natural caretaking personality was a great compliment to Kai's independence and competence.
The only thing that seemed a little unrealistic was the sweet apology scene from Marcus' parents. It was very nice but just going from my own experiences parental relationships like that aren't usually resolved with one monologue from a protagonist

The very flirty Kai, who works for Declan, is needing a place to live and Marcus stepped in and offered him his place to stay.
Kai is hilarious and so flirty, and Marcus gives as good as he gets. They’re adorable. But Kai is trying to find himself, and accepts a job in a different state and is going to move - but Marcus doesn’t want him to go (not that he admits that right away!) Marcus is a caretaker, never accepting help from anyone else, Kai recognises this almost immediately and finds ways to try and show him the same care he shows others.
The more time they spend together the more they start to feel for each other, admitting they like each other but not really doing anything about of it - until they do!
This story was so utterly adorable, the care between these two was gorgeous but also the heat was heating!

2.75 stars. This series is kinda like marvel movies: it's entertaining, has fun characters and dynamics, but the overused formula gets boring and also it kinda sucks when you think about it. Kai and Marcus were cute together I guess, despite the awful dialogue and the weird pacing. Also all the Vers boys being love virgins at 35 yo is boring, give me something else, this is like a broken record.
Kai's conflict with him moving to another city was so useless, it was just there to kick his relationship with Marcus into action. But it's kind of irrelevant during the whole book and when his friend cancels on him, it feels like such a cheap way out that confirms that this just wasn't needed at all. If you wanted to stick to the "oh no he is going to move out how are they going to maintain their brand new relationship", make KAI make a decision, in addition to being super predictable, this held zero value to Kai's development. Marcus' accident to push them to confess was so dumb. The ending was so rushed, and tried to tie all the loose ends (Kai's future, Marcus' relationship with his parents'...).
It started off as fine, they had cute moments, but as a whole it's just so damn boring. I am not sure what to expect of Corbin's book, but at this point I'll just read it to get it over with

Kai and Marcus are amazing
Nothing makes me feel more than the love Marcus and Kai show for each other. This was so cute. The spice was so well done.

Cute story!
Marcus is The Realest on the Vers podcast.
Kai is the bratty bartender who wants to take care of him.
Kai needs a place to live and Marcus has a palatial estate with plenty of rooms, so Kai moves in. They break Marcus's no sex with the roommate policy over and over and finally realize they're in love.
No angst, medium spice
2/5 on the spicy scale

I loved Marcus and Kai together, and I was SO CLOSE to giving five stars, but I just didn't 'feel' any connection to the characters.
Both characters were interesting and felt like real well-rounded people, I love their relationships with the other Vers guys and their families. Oh and the fish - so cute!
I'm really not sure why I couldn't connect to the emotions of the story though. Maybe it's my sleep deprivation from having a kid who hates to sleep at the moment!
I am so excited for Corbin's story though, I have been patiently waiting for him to get his HEA and I'm intrigued by what I think his story will be focusing on.
