I hated everything about this and how scary it was. It definitely felt like the author was going for pure shock factor most of the time. So this was scary and disturbing and worst of all utterly predictable. The setup was slightly confusing enough to where there is an air of mystery until you understand how the characters are associated. Then I - who am usually awful at predicting - could tell where the entire story went. But I thought there is so much of the book left, there’s no way I’m going to be right about this. But no I was they just took a long and loquacious road to get there.

This book needs some trigger warnings if you are into that sort of thing. There are dark themes here and is the main drive of the story and characters. But the book had me hooked from the very beginning

The writing and plot were compelling enough to draw me in - enough that I felt I needed to finish it. However the gruesome descriptions of sadist rape and sexual torture made me queasy and gave me nightmares the first day after finishing (TBD if these persist). Even some of the plot towards the end is extremely disturbing and gruesome. Saw this in a “kindle unlimited” suggested and would not recommend to a lay reader unless you regularly read horror. No idea if the authors other books are similar but I won’t be finding out - this one crossed a line.

Gratuitous violence. Somehow made me feel both heavily disturbed and grossed out as well as numb to the entire story and all of the characters save for the journal entries of the grieving father. Do not recommend.

this book served as a reminder that men are the absolute worst and i do not enjoy reading about the horrific things they do/want to do to women

This book was horrific, I loved it. Every single trigger warning, though.
