This was instantly addictive, despite Eliza being a bit of a wet blanket. I did love Margaret and her sassiness though, she made up for Eliza's lack of personality at the start of the book.

The rivalry between Somerset and Melville had me cracking up regularly. Melville generally had me in stitches, the whole way through.

The twists and turns in this book were good. I actually had no idea who it was aiming for the reader to want to win the love triangle until about 50% in, which made a nice change for a book like this.
SpoilerAlthough when Somerset hit his dickhead stride, he really hit it hard and I wanted to hit him.

I especially adored how Eliza (eventually) grew into a spine, although at times I did think she actually took it too far - especially the point at which she went to London, she really deserved the threat to her fortune at that point. I would've preferred if she'd stood up for herself, as she did, but if she hadn't pushed the border of impropriety too far, as she did. But that was a personal preference. I just hate when people act stupider than they actually are.

Cute little Persuasion-inspired story. At 50% I still didn’t know who I was rooting for, which is a bit unusual, but it was a sweet story.
