This book is filled with perspective on how to keep our closest relationships at their best. I am so happy to have found this book early and expect to refer to it from time to time as it seems always needed.

I don't typically go for half stars but I guess this was more of a 3.5 for me: 4 for the concepts but 3 for the delivery.

Our relationships are important and it is distressing when they aren't going as we like. And the root of that distress is emotional, and the way to resolve it, is in recognizing and dealing with the emotions, not primarily with logic.

Perhaps obvious for many, but a real eye-opener for me. Understand myself much better after reading this.

3.5. There was a lot of helpful insight and perspective here. The format the author of used of writing out "verbatim" conversations between couples became pretty annoying to me to read and I would have liked less of that. Overall the book provided a good foundation for understanding the need for emotional connection in relationships, what can happen when that is (or feels) threatened, and how to effectively communicate back into a state of connection.
