Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of The Island by Adrian McKinty in return for my honest review.
I really enjoyed The Chain by Adrian McKinty so was really excited to read his latest book The Island and it certainly didn’t disappoint this is a really fast paced thrilling read which once i started i couldn’t put down.
A family holiday to Australia leads the family to visit a small island to see koala bears one accident later and all hell breaks loose its the survival of the fittest. There is an interesting mix of characters and some very gory bits all adding to the atmosphere of the story.

Heather is a true *not like the other girls* girl
Ok but fr action was good, and crazy-Outback-inbred-family never fails to creep me out. However the dialogue was as if an alien wrote how they thought humans talked to each other.

I loved this author's book The Chain. This book took a bit longer to get into but it took off and then I was hooked. It isn't for the faint of heart. A good deal of violence.
How crazy is this story? So crazy that I read it in a day and Hulu purchased it earlier this year to make it into a series.
American family goes to Australia. Some locals agree to take them to their family's island real quick to see some koalas. Except instead of seeing wildlife they end up being hunted and held captive by the family that lives there. There's no Internet, no cell reception, no way back to the mainland. How many of them, if any, will make it off the island alive?
"You are living on borrowed time. They’ll find you. This is their backyard."
Also - this author has an amazing life story if you care to look him up.

A thriller that you can't put down! Character development and backstory could have been better written, but this was a fun and quick read.

one evening read kind of vibe. it’s really slow at the start but once the action happens, the suspense makes it hard to put down! kinda scary ngl but enjoyable
