While a work of fiction, the historical foundation was strong and provided insights and POVs I never considered before or had the knowledge of. The authors ability to connect to the readers was engaging and thought provoking. I also appreciate the authors ending notes and nod to minorities and their experiences as well as calls to action and resources.

If I didn’t read this book, I would have never learnt about the postwar maternity homes and forced adoption mandate. This story will take you on an emotional ride through motherhood and understand the importance of your right to want to be a mother. Every child a wanted child.

I read this book for a reason: to step inside the world of hopeless women who felt they had no choice but to choose an abortion. I wanted to understand. And while I didn’t agree by a long shot with all of the decisions made, I did care for the characters. And, I enjoyed the writing, for the most part.

But the string of coincidences and plot conveniences used made me knock some stars off.
