Cooke was a hell of an artist and I have to give it up for his love of noir. But “Ego” is the showstopper in this collection even if it doesn’t quite stick the landing. But I like that the collection is bookended by two stories where Batman wrestles with what it means to keep being Batman. However, I was left a little cold by “Selina’s Big Score” which felt more like a Sin City riff than a good Catwoman story.
Darwyn Cooke was such an interesting artist. He really was a combination of Jack Kirby and Will Eisner's aesthetic with a dash of Gil Kane. Plus, he draws Catwoman like nobody's business.
These Batman and Batman-related stories are all pretty good. My favorite is the Batman/Spirit teamup, because "The Spirit" is one of my favorite characters ever.
If you like Cooke, this is a "must read." If you ship Batman/Catwoman, this is a "must read." Everybody else? You might love it, you might hate it, but you won't be bored with it.

A great collection of Darwyn Cooke's DC work, the highlight being "Selina's Big Score" which is essentially just a Parker story featuring Catwoman and a guy named "Stark" hmm.

Picked this up because I read an article that was very complimentary about the story 'Ego,' but for me the standout was 'Selena's Big Score,' a Catwoman story by way of a Donald Westlake heist narrative. The other brief tales were interesting but not terribly essential. Darwyn Cooke had an interesting art style that makes a neat contrast with the dark tones of the material.
Batman Ego was horrendous, Selina’s Big Score was fantastic, and the other bits were fine.

Darwyn Cooke was a master storyteller and this anthology does a good job showcasing his talents as an artist and a writer. He was at his best when writing and illustrating together. The best story is "Catwoman: Selina's Big Score", a noir caper. The title story, "Ego", is probably one of the weaker entries, but it does touch on some of the psychological aspects of the Batman mythos that have become central to modern interpretations.
a arte é boa, mas o texto é fraco e chato de ler, as histórias não são boas, selina's big score sendo infelizmente a pior delas
