219 mi hodně připomněla současnou situaci v Palestině a Izraeli, uf.

Very inspiring and fascinating time capsule of African and Latin American cultures, written in a distinctly human-focused way.

A brilliant work. Strangely unclassifiable. Part reportage, part personal notebook, part self-mythologization, part political analysis, part poetry. At the most generic level of description, a work of nonfiction from various war-torn and troubled places in Africa and Latin America, but somehow both more and less than that. At times finely particular, and at other times broad to the level of general cycles of history. Always startling, with the frisson of the real.

Two of my favorite nonfiction genres: journalism and travel! Kapuscinski is brave, courageous and the kind of journalist I only wish I were. He reports from war zones and places of human rights violations, often at a danger to himself, but he always gets the story.
