Scooby Cthulu, where are you? Well, right here, as a matter of fact. I'm recommending this to everybody because you all need to know what happens when the Scooby gang grows up and reopens a case from their teenage years that happens to involve Lovecraftian type monsters.

I was drawn in by the cover at the library and the premise sounded fun, but I just couldn't do it. I didn't like any of the characters, and at this far into the book I still didn't feel like we had done almost anything to move the plot forward. Then you add the switch between script and prose, often with few indicators it's happening (in audiobook). I simply found it too boring to keep going back and figuring out where I'd gotten lost.

This novel, though mired in pathetic fallacy and odd metatextual choices that seem gratuitous and off, ultimately satisfies the nostalgic itch it sets out to scratch. It takes till about 40% through to really get going, which is never good, however I did stick with it and wound up fairly satisfied by the end.

Had a hard time getting into the story for some reason. Switched to audio.

I couldn’t get over the writing style.

It was a light and entertaining read.   Definitely some flaws with pacing making it feel a bit long.

Scooby Doo reimagining won’t be for everyone, but it worked for me.  As Lovecraft/Cthulu mythos it is fine, but not great.

I thought it was a truly great read that made me recall many childhood memories.
