Disgraced Detective Wolf is on the case of a serial killer who seems to be fulfilling his wildest dreams: killing everyone involved with the case that destroyed his reputation and led to the death of a little girl. The trouble is, some of the people involved are innocent. The bigger trouble is that Wolf himself is the last one on the hit list. The Death Clock is literally counting down.

As a police procedural, Ragdoll is solid. There's not a single character I don't want to know more about, and I enjoyed the mystery. As a thriller, the book is maybe a little too wild. Wolf goes full Elliott Stabler, the murder methods are impossible, and the ending makes me wonder how the heck there can be two more books in the series when everyone should be dead or in jail. Which I guess means I have to read them. Well played, Daniel Cole.

Eindelijk weer eens een boek uitgelezen! Spannende thriller waar het nog lang onduidelijk blijft wat er nou precies aan de hand is, maar verder niet perse een boek waar ik nog veel over na zal denken. Maar I enjoyed it!

‘One body, six victims’

This book is absolutely insane and it’s going to be stuck in my head for a long time.
The plot is weird, original and gruesome. As many have said before: ‘Se7en’ and ‘Law Abiding Citizen’ come to mind.

If the first body they find, are actually six different victims sewn together like a rag doll, you know you’re in for a ride.
The book is very fast paced and the plot twist are terrific.

In addition, the characters are very well written, especially Wolf!
Although I feel like Edmunds deserves a shout out, he’s the real MVP here.

Apparently this was Daniel Cole’s debut, which makes it even more impressive to me and I can’t wait to read the sequel.

Well, that was some ending.

Great opening to a series and I'm very much looking forward to the next book.

3.5 stars, rounding down bc the ending left me a bit flat. a solid crime novel overall, and i think it'll make a dope TV show, but given the careful pace of the first half, the back half felt rushed and a little frenetic, with very little resolution beyond the killer being caught.

Daniel Cole is my favorite writer. Not only is this book extremely thrilling and refreshingly Innovative. His characters are so clear and interesting in their own ways. I can't stop to root for them as if I'd know them personally.
