A beautiful book, beautifully written, beautifully narrated and so emotionally raw it will make you feel everything the characters do.
The ending... I just stared at the page when I was done. So bloody good!

Very well written and well plotted. However, I really struggled with the basic concept. Slight spoiler alert but one of the two main female characters (Anna and Hope) steals the baby of the other. How and why she takes the baby are completely believable. What I struggled with is how long she's able to keep the baby for.
I know that there have been cases in the US in which a baby is taken from hospital and not found until years later, but I just cannot imagine that happening in the UK. Everything is too connected here; people would ask too many questions. My mother (if she was still around) would be rolling her eyes at this point and sigh, with exasperation, that it is just a "story". So, I accept that there's such a thing a poetic license etc but where a story is too unbelivable, it is distracting.
Another issue I have is that French does like to have a neat and tidy ending, which again is unrealistic.

An Utterly Heart-Warming Story
I hadn't read any Dawn French book before, I wasn't sure what I should expect. However, this book was totally awesome. I like her storytelling style and twists in the plot. And for the first time after ages, I cried at the end of a book.
