i finally broke down and read this saptacular ode-to-a-bad-dog. yes, i cried and yes it was endearing but not really anything new. the author did a nice job of reading it.
This book was beautifully written...laugh out loud funny in places, and very sad, too. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I literally laughed out loud during his description of Marley's first encounter with snow. I could almost see him out there dancing in it. Hilarious. The saddest part of this book, to me, was not the inevitable ending, but the decline...watching the eternal puppy become old and decrepit. Sad, but worth every page.
I wanted to read this after seeing the movie, just to see if the two were in sync. What do you know, they were!!! The movie was very true to the book and I was most impressed. Both were excellent. :)
It was a cute book - I definitely don't understand all the negativity towards it. So what, they weren't perfect pet owners, but very few of us are.
This book is SO endearing!! Our pets really become a huge part of our lives and family, so as an animal lover myself I could totally relate to both the good and bad times that the Grogans went through with Marley. This book almost makes you feel like Marley becomes a part of your own life and I love that. Definitely a story that I will remember.
A must read for all in the Bad Dogs Club! My favorite chapter? "What He Ate".
This book is not a literary masterpiece, but it was very engaging and hit home with me. The end reminded me of a recent similar personal experience.
Oh fuck it. I laughed, I cried, I loved dogs, and I'm giving the damned book 5 stars. Bite me, cynics, this book made me warm.
I loved this book! It made me laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time. I felt this book well illustrated both the love and frustration a person can feel while living with a four legged creature. I also thought it wonderful to see the level of commitment the author felt towards a sweet but overwhelming animal.
