DNF a couple of years ago, and I wanted to give it another go. I really wanted to like this, I think the film is really good and emotional.
This book is so boring! I feel bad but it's just so slow and not interesting
Noo I didn't like it ending on the idea of them getting a new dog exactly like him :(

"Age sneaks up on us all, but it sneaks up on a dog with a swiftness that is both breathtaking and sobering."
I made the mistake of reading this shortly after my beloved dog Murray had died, and while it has several laugh out loud parts, it is also heartbreakingly sad at times...
This was a great book - so very funny for most of it but so very touching and sad at the end. I love books about animals and pets.
I found Marley adorable, and the ending of this book was heartbreaking. Towards the end of his life, Marley could hardly walk, he was going deaf and blind, and they didn't take him to the vet to perhaps go on pain medication to help with his obvious arthritis sooner. They could see he was in pain. Then, they shipped him off to the vet to take the family on a Disney vacation shortly before the end of his life. I understand not wanting to face that it's time to say goodbye to a beloved pet; I have dealt with that several times. However, at some point, you have to weigh whether you're keeping them around selfishly rather than ending their suffering. I don't doubt for a minute that Marley was loved and a happy dog. What I can't get behind is allowing an animal to suffer the way he did at the end of his life. For that reason, this book only gets 2 stars from me.
Bring out the kleenex, this is a great and well written tribute to a crazy dog.
I cried so much at the end. This was a great book!
