This book was an absolute joy to read. It flowed so smoothly. It was lighthearted but it did make me cry. I was totally engrossed in the book and didn't want to put it down.
I can’t get past how negligent the owners are on the story.
I cried like a baby at the end. I love my dog and was happy to read a great dog story.

Funny-when the movie came out a new version of this book was released. It was a "young reader's" version. I'd read the book when it was first released, and I could not think of anything that needed to be removed for my young reader. Oops!!! There was nothing truly inappropriate, but the descriptions of some things had us both reeling.
Also...yeah, yeah, dogs teach us to appreciate the simple things in life. Gotcha.

Many scenes left me shaking my head as the author and his wife clearly didn’t do their homework before getting a dog (or after bringing him home). The Grogans sound like pretty terrible pet owners and I felt bad for Marley.
I kept thinking the author should learn how to train dogs better...
