Quick read that kept me on the edge. Ready for the next one!
After reading this book for the first time in middle school, it was one that I never got over and regretted not finishing the series. Deciding to give it a try as an adult, I am still not over it! Even though it is a short quick read, it gave me everything that I needed to be interested in the plot. You feel bad for Luke and are torn in between what he should do. I cared about the character and can't wait to see what happens.
Taking into consideration this series is written for middle grade children, the plot is simple and can me very easy to follow along. I think Haddix did a great job in this intro book! Can't wait to pick up the next one!

Among the Enemy (Shadow Children #6) is one of my favorite books of all time, but I never knew there was a series, so I'm reading the entire series to see if I love them as much as book 6.

SUCH A GOOD SERIES. Although it's middle grade, this book has such strong themes that need to be addressed. And partnered with the fact that kids are the ones going through these circumstances, it really makes you look at the world in a different way.
