I seriously feel like I read an entirely different book than everyone else. I see reviewers giving this book high praise and glowing recommendations while I sit here at a loss on the last page just blinking my eyes in confusion. What the heck did I just read?

The characters were dull and hate each other but we don’t really know the real reason to the hate. They are attracted to each other though and have some steamy and smutty scenes together. Then we have an ending that leaves you on a cliffhanger of sorts. Hailey was snobby and came across as better-than-thou. Cole was a dirty talking bad boy but protective and secretive. This book was just s hot mess for me.

The title of this book is what initially got my attention but man, this story was awesome. It's hot, it's full of suspense and the dynamic between Cole and Hailey is awesome!

Ok so a few things...
The dirty talk could have been better...
Some of the things Hailey did seemed a bit childish, but I'll let it slide...

Overall, this book was pretty darn good! And that twist at the end?? Omg! Did not see that coming! So ready for part 2!

3.5 STARS

I don't like Cole. But I do like his hungry gaze.
I think I like it a lot.

I should've heeded the warning that was stated on the first part of the book.
Warning: This is just the start. This doesn't end well. And it's going to get much worse before it gets better.

I read this book, thinking it was one of those serial eroticas that don't have much plot and was more on sex. I didn't expect it to be like this. It caught me off guard.

Hailey Dashford Reid tries to lead a normal life but her publicly scandalous family makes it impossible for her to do so. She's attracted to Cole Parker, a man from a group her dad hired as their security detail, despite her dislike with him.

Cole Parker is a member of the Horus Group and knows that lusting after his client's daughter is a big fat NO. But how long will he be able to resist the forbidden fruit?

Lame summary again. Whatevs.

Anyway, I really liked the story. Like I said, it wasn't what I expected.

Jesus, life is too short to not laugh regularly.

I admired Hailey because despite being in a fucked-up family with attention-seeking members, she didn't allow them to drag her down and strived to be independent.

With Cole, well, I do like him but it wasn't instantaneous even though he was the kind of guy that I would immediately put in my "men that cream your panties" category.

I was just kind of confused with him at first, you know. He was hell-bent on not allowing himself to touch Hailey but he was the one who was always aggressive and the one who initiated things, making Hailey baffled and shit.
He kisses in a way that needs consent, that makes you feel like you've been stripped bare and fucked hard. This kiss is going to leave me achey and satisfied, even though the bare part can't happen.

Another reason we can't do this—he could have me on my knees, desperate for scraps of his attention, with no effort at all.

Nevertheless, the attraction between the two main characters was almost tangible for me I felt that they might combust if they didn't actually do something about it.

I just had a few problems though. The lack of background information had been bugging me the whole time I read the book.

Like what kind of family is the Reid family? How influential are they that Hailey's sister ended up having a scandal with the VP? Are they like the Kardashians or something?

When the I read the title, I was kind of expecting some really hard and intense and steamy fucking because it's usually how hate sex works, right?

And why would you leave me with a freaking cliffy? WAE.

I know it's a serial and I kinda anticipated it already, but daaaaamn. Good thing I got my ARC for the part two though.

Thanks Netgalley for a free book to read and review.

Wow, what an enjoyment. Cole and Hailey had such fireworks I could feel the heat. So Hailey has an embarrassing family.....that's an underestimated sentence. Her sister made a sex tape with the old Vice President. Lol. Cole is a private bodyguard who makes sure Hailey makes it to every family meeting. The chemistry in this book is was hot! OMG! HOT!

Good girl rule number one: distance yourself from the family without morals. Good girl rule number two: don’t take your panties off for someone who will sell you down the river for a pay check.  Technically speaking, I haven’t actually taken them off for Cole yet, he just shoved them aside last week. And ground against them before that. And made them wet tonight. Holy crap, I need to stop thinking about Cole and my underwear, because he’s currently outlining a plan that is the complete opposite of what I want.

Yeah right! You know she wants to spread em. I can't wait for part two! Five stars of hot freaking entertainment.

"They can't stand each other.
But there's a fine line between love and hate.

And that line is X-rated."

With a tag line like that, I HAD to check this book out...

And then finish it the same day.

The fast-paced, sizzling story drew me right in. Cole and Hailey are funny and engaging and their connection is intense- emotional and physical. I've already started on part two. :)
