I loved this book, which I picked up at library knowing nothing about it other that the blurb on the cover. The concept could have led to an abstract style of writing but Ogawa painted a very real picture of the eerie and suffocating life on the island where things keep disappearing. I was drawn in immediately and stayed hooked until the end.

A strange, surreal, dystopian novel. The tone of this novel is ominous and brooding and yet the people who inhabit this book seem not to notice. They just go on living and ignore the creeping danger. It keeps building to an end no one knows. After all how can one sense what you can’t remember?
