Absolutely delicious! Like always. A medicine for these difficult times and the perfect book for summer reading, at the seaside... (too bad it's winter... and a pandemic
Some laugh out loud scenes and good character development. One of my favorite Kinsella books.

ava infuriated me the whole time to an extent that i was frequently laughing at how ridiculous the whole thing was. but the ending warmed my heart a bit
I thought Ava was annoying from the first chapter, so I had a hard time getting invested. And they fall in love SO fast, I just thought the whole thing was really cringy. I was dreading picking it up, so I decided not to finish.
I just can’t. I’ve read 18% of the book and can’t read another page. It’s such a ridiculous premise and I couldn’t care less about the main characters. Ava seems more like a middle schooler with a crush than a grown ass woman. I understand that most people want to find a partner in life. However, I dislike books where the lead female character puts everything else to the side for a man. She paid for this expensive ass writing retreat so she could work on her novel, which I inferred from the beginning that writing is her passion but having a job that paid the bills took precedent and put her dream on the back burner. The first day of this retreat, she meets some magical dude and immediately bails on the retreat. Their interaction and dialogue was boring and had no chemistry. I dreaded turning the page and decided I wasn’t going to waste my time on a book that made me cringe so hard at not even a quarter of the way through.
