Serious Phantasma vibes, and I mean that as a compliment. 4/5, Dagen can be my backup ghost husband after Blackwell. Also, additional love for sidestepping the miscommunication trope. Dear GOD was that nice.
medium-paced
Aside from a slightly slow beginning, this was INCREDIBLE. I loved watching the character growth, and the twist really threw me for a loop until right beforehand. The ending was everything I wanted it to be and more. I'm so excited for a sequel!

I have been in a reading RUT and this brought me back to life.
This book truly took me by surprise, went into it blind and I think I will make that standard practice. The magic system had a lot of variety and it was a little difficult to grasp how it all worked at times, but once I got into I really enjoyed the uniqueness of it all. Nizzara is a fantastic FMC, she is strong, smart and extremely resilient. With her dark past and present she is still capable of being compassionate and emotional with those close to her. Dagen is the hottest ghost I have ever read about and I would fall for him too. The slow burn is so so so good and I absolutely loved the banter, deep respect and complete honestly they shared with one another. I’m very curious to see where this story goes and cannot wait for the next book, until then a little piece of my heart belongs here.
✨Slow burn
✨Strong FMC
✨He falls first
✨Spirits, ghosts and gods oh my
✨Banter for DAYS

3⭐️ It’s okay. Still recommend.
Read this if you like star crossed lovers between a fierce and powerful FMC and a flirty MMC who also happens to be a ghost.

3.5/4 ⭐️ | I see a lot of complaints in the reviews but ngl I’m glad I managed to get myself into this book. I loved the magic & god/goddess which I agree should have definitely been spoken about more, but I’m hoping to get more details as the series progresses. I’m very much looking forward to the 2nd book.
❗️ Spoilers ~
Some things I didn’t like/confusion:
• With as much training as Nizzara received and being the “best dueller”, I don’t think it was very well executed. All of her fighting scenes were the same, it becomes very easy to just skip over the duels knowing they’ll be the same…her bleeding out and refusing to use her powers, boo
• Meeting her mother & not having enough time to connect with her before she “had to go” and it was too late to discuss anything at all. Be so fr pls the least she deserved were some answers that weren’t from the book she never even had the chance to read???
• Was Lo disguised as the tutor this entire time and never even stepped in to help other than giving her a riddle to solve even though she already had the answer to it herself?? I was expecting more from Lo’s character and her reveal was weak
• I want to love Shadow Daddy sm but the first time he laid eyes on Nizzara creeped me tf out. I’m sorry but I don’t want a ghostie falling in lust with me while I’m trying to bathe in privacy
