It was pretty good even though it needs a lot of editing. I can see it’s being traditionally published in October though so I’ll reread it then :) some of the plot was a bit confusing and it was a bit cringe that Dagen called himself a shadow daddy but I think the series has huge potential as Cortney develops as an author!
I went into this book with high expectations and it did not disappoint! There were a few plot lines I feel confused about by otherwise this was an amazing read!

Okay so this book covered all the fantasy needs and wants BUT with a futuristic/current day view! The use of cars, guns, electricity, etc was exactly the right thing to make this book SO unique!
I absolutely adored the idea each character having their own bond spirit. Nizzara portrayed such a strong FMC and my heart shattered multiple times for her. I was so addicted to her character and needed to know what happened to her and that ending left me speechless!
And let me just say Dagen - swoon! New book boyfriend hello!!! His character was written SO insanely well, he left me captivated and I felt so bad for him being torn between love and his kingdom.
I really do recommend this read to everyone! @cortneylwinn deserves all the best with this book! I’m excited for her next novella and look forward to more from Dagen!!

This book kept me at the edge of my seat it was very refreshing and so different than other fantasy books in a good way. I loved the pages from Lo’s diary In there it was a special touch to give another POV.
I fell in love with these characters Dae is so special and lovable in all his forms. Nizzara is a very strong female character and I love how she doesn’t like to show weakness in any way. She is challenged on every page in this story. Her relationship with Dae is a Beautifully complex, specially that he is a ghost. I loved everything about the book. Nizzara is probably my new favorite FMC. I love how stubborn and endlessly loving she is but also can be such a hard ass! I felt for her struggle between light and dark. Overall, I enjoyed this story greatly and also enjoyed the world building. If anyone is familiar with the game “Dishonored” the world building gives off this dystopian grungy industrial vibe that I’m all for. Also loved the magic system, it’s something I’ve yet to read about and I felt it was super creative. I will definitely read again once I can get my hands on a physical trophy book! And I can’t wait for the second one!
