This was very enjoyable and would be a perfect beach read. However, there was no real vulnerability or growth from Finn, which made the romance feel very half baked. The resolution of the burnout arc also felt somewhat sudden and unrealistic, so I ended up wanting the book to either focus fully on Sasha’s development or flesh out Finn and the romance more.

2 1/2 round to 3. I like Sophie Kinsella as an author but this wasn’t my favorite. Predictable and not always realistic.

I really enjoyed listening to the audio book of this witty, cute story! I loved the quirky characters from the hotel, as well as Sasha and Finn and I adored the setting at that cute seaside town in Devon (please take me there RIGHT NOW!!!).

I picked this up at the airport because it sounded fun. To think that Sasha was my age, going through similar turmoils that I’m going through too. I think it came along at just the right time, and has honestly helped me breathe a little easier with my own “burnout.” It’s a slow read, definitely not something that’s going to pick up pace. But it’s a nice read, and a good story for those of us who needed to be reminded to breathe again. I won’t be trying to join a convent anytime soon, but she gave me hope that everything is going to turn out all right in the end. To “go get it.”

“When my baskets full, I survey it with a kind of pride. Not many people would call a Tesco online basket a thing of beauty, but right now, this is all part of my new life. Where I look after myself. Where I value myself. And it looks beautiful to me.”

I can’t believe I’m DNF’ing a book by Sophie Kinsella…

After a strong and hilarious start the book slid downhill fast. It manages to be both boring and exhausting leaving me, the reader, to feel as burnt out as the main character. There was… maybe? Potential but it was lost quick. The book feels dialed in and forced.

I tried to stick it out but found myself getting a headache

Great audio. I love that we’re getting more and more books with real world problems. Burnout is a huge one and it was handled well in this one. Maybe solved a little too easily, but still done well.
