The final (to date) installment of the Temeraire series was wonderful! Great battles won, a new hatchling that will be the death of all of them and an ending suiting the tone of the series. I can't say enough good things about Naomi's writing. You'll fall in love with all the characters but especially Temeraire himself. Read these!

Exceptional. I'm both delighted in the ending and sorry I cannot read more of it. Well-rounded, well-written, taken everywhere it should be taken. Real but never cruel. An astonishing read.

It's a good book and a decent finish to the series. I certainly am glad to have read it. However, I felt at times that the author was clearly "over" it and just wanted to finish things up. Cutting major scenes--including one that has been set up since book 2 and in my mind ought to have been one of the climaxes of the entire series. Also the structure was strange, spending the first part of the book finishing up what really ought to have been in the last book.

That being said, Temeraire and Laurence are the same as ever and continue to be enjoyable. The ending felt decently wrapped up without being too neat. I was a bit surprised that Laurence's end role was

to live with Tharkay, who I always considered a secondary character.

Overall, despite its flaws and lack of focus, I recommend the series to anyone who enjoys dragons and historical fiction.

I wish I felt a little better about the ending. However, I may have overdone it and need some time to let it all sink in.

I enjoyed the ending entry greatly. This book has the funniest section in the series in my opinion. And I quite liked the battles in it, despite my previous boredom with them.
