Very cute kids book I read because V.E Schwab wrote it. It probably would have been a 4.5 star read if it weren’t for the insane amount of Harry Potter references. Every time I thought it was done, there was another one, and it made me groan.
This was written before the average person knew JKR was the worst, so it dates the book immediately. But I think even as a kid the sheer amount of Harry Potter references would have gotten to me.

I really enjoyed this book, I am a huge Schwab fan and think she is a great writer. This is a kid friendly book and you can tell from the writing style, its very different from her other books but still really good. I really liked the concept of this book and how the ghosts were done! For a middle grade book is is very creepy and spooky. I really liked Cassidy's character and her parents were pretty cool! I like that it was set in Edinburgh, one of my favourite places that I have visited a lot so I knew the areas. I did not like all the references to the difference in language between America and Scotland, this is one of the main reasons I dropped a star. The plot was good and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Un middle-grade carino e divertente, nonostante le atmosfere piuttosto creepy. E' un libro perfetto da leggere ad Halloween, alcune parti mi hanno pure inquietata...se l'avessi letto da piccola sarei morta. L'idea di poter "entrare" nel mondo dei fantasmi è davvero geniale e tutte le regole che lo riguardano sono chiare e ben descritte. Ho amato anche l'ambientazione, la città di Edimburgo è davvero suggestiva. L'unica pecca è che non mi sono affezionata particolarmente alla storia visto che è indirizzata ad un pubblico molto giovane.
Però è un libro scorrevolissimo, si divora in poche ore. E se siete alle prime armi con la lingua inglese buttatevi su questo!

This is definitely written for a younger audience. It was still an excellent story. A great cozy, mystery fantasy. The whole family enjoyed it and they immediately asked for the next one
