Okay, this was ridiculously cute. A narwhal, a jellyfish, and waffles.
The characters and stories are cute and silly. Children will giggle at this book and then ask for more so make sure to have the second one on hand.
This is an adorable step into graphic novels for young readers. The humor in this is good enough that even I had a chuckle or two. Gelato is totally relatable.
Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Random House Canada for a free digital copy of this book.
I picked this book out to read to my boys because the cover was adorable and the comic book style story telling!
Once I started reading it to my two and six year old, we loved the playful interactions between Narwhal and Jelly! The story was enjoyable and engaging. The added narwhal and jellyfish facts were insightful. The language used by the characters was carefree, childlike, and innocent this makes it easy for young ears to understand the information being provided.
We learned that a narwhal’s horn-like tooth can be up to 10ft. long, they can hold their breath for 25 mins., and they have a record dive depth up to 5,905ft. We also learned that there are 4,000 different types of jellyfish in the world and that a group of them are called a smack. We enjoyed that there were three different stories of Narwhal & Jelly included in the book. The first gave us information about narwhals and jellyfish. The second was about what is a pod, how important communication is between friends, and that getting left out makes you angry. The third book was about using your imagination.
I would defiantly recommend this book to friends with children, media specialists, and to teachers in early childhood and early elementary that are doing units on narwhals.

A cute graphic novel similar to the Piggie and Elephant books in which two creatures explore and are friends. The art is fun and the story is silly enough to engage even older readers.
Narwhal and Jelly become friends. They like eating waffles and using their imaginations.
