This book was not for me. I liked the first few chapters about Pippa. It was harsh, but I thought the premise was good. However, I didn't like the way the story went after that. Francesca annoyed me. It took em a while to figure out who all the characters were, but that might have been because I didn't read the rest of the series.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.

I actually DNF’ed this at like 80% because the romance parts are so fun but the sex cult is too much for me

This was a powerful ending to a fantastic series. I was so glad to see Francesca get the ending she deserved, and I loved who the MMC turned out to be (and his connection to the previous book). Great, great book.

I've come to love all of the characters in this world Kerrigan Byrne has created, one that is dark but also full of hope and loyalty and love. The Red Rogues are three commendable women, and their men their perfect matches.

I found the plot of this book to be the most intense, the most wild for sure.
SpoilerAnytime a cult is brought into the equation, any book can get pretty crazy.
The plot was given the most time in this one, and I can't help but feel that the romance suffered because of it. I don't quite believe the strong attraction portrayed by Francesca and her love interest. It's carnal, for sure, and really quite fun watching the dynamic couple spar, go up against each other physically and verbally, but I missed the attention to the development and tenderness of the growing attraction between the two MCs that the previous books had. I've accepted their attraction simply because, individually, I love both Francesca and the Devil of Dorset, but their romance felt rushed and a little out of place at times.

Alas, I truly did love the twisty and dark plot in this one the best out of the three, it was very different, unlike the usual twists in Historical Romance books--at least ones I've read!

TW: There is a very graphic and disturbing slaughtering described at the beginning of the book. Children are involved. There are also themes of cult worshiping and sacrifices.

j don’t even know how to feel, like i’m genuinely pissed rn. chandler did not redeem himself in my eyes at ALL, especially since he never even says he loves pippa like he never said the words “i love you PIPPA”…

it just feels like he will forever be holding on to his fantasy of marrying the elegant lady francesca. and i feel BAD for francesca (frank/pippa) bc she was truly my fav girl out of the rogues and she deserves BETTER. FRANK DESERVES BETTER.

anyway four stars bc this book made me so mad so therefore it’s well written (this logic has no flaws). i wish pippa the best and i hope she realizes she doesn’t have to hide behind francesca anymore

I loved the beginning of this book. It tells the origin story of Francesca and Chandler. However, it went down hill after that. I just couldn't connect with Francesca. She was head strong, didn't listen to her friends and took to many dangerous risks.

Francesca has a secret, and Chandler is determined to figure out what it is. Thrust together as they seek to solve the mystery of the massacre of Mont Claire, attraction soon turns to love. But what happens when the truth of Francesca's identity comes out?

If you like dark, sexy romantic suspense, this book is for you. It's an emotional page-turner.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
