This book is fast-paced and well-plotted. Some of the writing was a bit cliched/cloying. I liked the main characters and the alternating viewpoints. The present day main character’s husband was awful and annoying.

I love a story based in real history. Add in a little medical drama alongside the “magic” apothecaries were accused of conjuring and AUGH!! This was a real treat. Lovely quick little read, despite the novel’s subject matter. 

PS FURTHER PROOF THAT WE DON’T TRUST MEN WITH J NAMES.
