I thoroughly enjoyed the writing of this book and the world that the author created. It was very well written (and super gross, love that). -1 star because I personally don't like when fantasy/apocalypse style books are too realistic (takes place in 2023 post covid, many references to real life). It takes me out of the story a bit, which is disappointing because the world the author created was very entertaining and interesting. But those glimpses into reality made it difficult for me to get fully emersed in the story. I would definitely read other books by this author.

This whole journey from start to finish was weird, grotesque, bizarre as all hell and out of this world. I didn't hate it but there were some parts where it went a bit beyond for me.
Sexual violence was my biggest issue during the story but I still enjoyed the story in whole.
It was weird but I made it to the other side.

oof that was disturbing and odd and weird and twisted and horrific and delightful all at once? Religion and aliens taking over the planet with mutant angels that only speak in Old Testament style language and creatures of all types born from human flesh? I’m not sure I even know what I read but it was sure an interesting but disturbing trip

Erin is concerned about the latest deadly pandemic exploding around the globe, when she becomes horribly sick herself. When she wakes from her coma, she finds out about the weird after effects of the disease, including a morbid new diet. The government is trying to control the outbreak by limiting people’s movement. But Erin feels compelled to seek out other infected, and covertly does. And then the mutations start, and things start to get viscerally nightmarish. Erin is just one of many in what will be the strange new future for the world.

Great googelly-moogelly! This is a very disturbing, eldritch-horror story of a pandemic apocalypse. It is very good, but is incredibly gory and grotesque and horrific. It tells the story from the point-of-view of three different women, and does a great job of overlapping and interweaving their stories. It also does a great job with details and reveals. But this is not a story for the faint of heart.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me read an ARC of Sister, Maiden, Monster by Lucy N Snyder!!!

I loved this book. I feel like it was written personally for me! I do believe that this book will not be for everyone, there is body gore in it, but if you have no problem with that, then tou should definitely give this book a chance.

Visceral. Raw. Gory.

You have been warned.

A new pandemic is wreaking havoc (is there anything else you can wreak?) and turning people into monsters, both physically and mentally.

First we meet Erin, who has a fiancé who, unbeknownst to her, is carrying a rather troubling business card, and then watches in horror as Erin falls victim to the pandemic illness. Isolated from everything and everyone, treated as a specimen rather a human being, she discovers she has new, horrifying tastes and predilections.

Savannah is a sex worker, and a very good one, who starts to believe she is getting instructions from higher powers. And she starts to obey them, leaving a very, very bloody trail behind her.

Mareva has been ill all her life, growing benign tumors that just keep popping up, until it becomes clear that something has changed and she is the proverbial Chosen One.

These three women are our pathways into a world where all biological bets are off and I loved every bloody moment.

This is probably the most fucked up thing I’ve ever read, but it was also so good I read it in less than three days. But it was also so fucked up that reading it that fast feels like it probably wasn’t good for me. Either way 5/5
