The beginning of each pov had me intrigued and then it just slowly fell off for each one. I was bored by the end of all three povs and the end of this book? Terrible. So many open ended questions and I HATE that. The book had so much potential and it flopped

If Patricia Wants to Cuddle by Samantha Leigh Ann and Devilman Crybaby had a love child, this would be it. Interesting, campy, modern take on zombies and apocalypse in a post-COVID-19 world. I didn’t really fall in love with any of the characters, though I think I empathized with Erin the most. I think she was the most developed, and then halfway through she was kind of abandoned (for reasons I do understand, but I missed her throughout the rest of the book). I understood her motives the clearest and related to her the most (want to eat women’s brains). I did not like Savannah. I wanted her to be more than she was. It felt like she was less of a character and more of an underdeveloped vehicle of plot which maybe is the point? But I didn’t like it lol. I wanted more from Mareva. Actually I think the book could have been told entirely from Mareva’s perspective and still get mostly the same ideas across and then have gone further. Definitely a digestible novella length, but I think it would have gone way further from Mareva’s pov. I usually hate zombies, apocalypses, and science fiction, so the fact that I got through this as fast as I did and enjoyed it as much as I did is really saying something. And I learned a LOT about viruses.

That was a wild ride of gore, pandemics, body horror, cosmic nightmare gods, and more gore. Thin on plot and character development this book goes all in on descriptions, which are terrifying to behold.

Yooooo. My mind feels like it needs to be cleaned after this one. What started as a weird pandemic story only veered further and further into depravity. There are some descriptions that I think even the most jaded horror lovers with squirm at, and I love that about this. I'm not typically an enthusiastic fan of body horror, but this worked for me. It was edgy, bizarre, gross, a variety of fluids galore, and I fucking dug it.
