I don’t know why I haven’t heard more about this book. Very twisty, and just when I thought I had it figured out there’s another one and I was 100% not expecting it to end the way it did.

Twists on twists on twists! I loved this book! Faulkner really knows how to throw in those red herrings and keep you guessing until literally the last page. I had such a hard time putting this book down. The dual POVs of Tash and Sophie were woven together perfectly along the past timeline of Sophie and present of Tash. Every chapter left me frantically turning pages to see what information would come next. Aside from the murder mystery storyline, I really loved the look at motherhood in this book. Faulkner really showcased some of the darker points like postnatal depression, the comparison game between mothers and also the general mental, emotional and physical labor being a parent is. Also this book was crazy atmospheric with its English setting. Highly recommend this one!

This was a fun read. Dark at points but not as graphic or gratuitous as thrillers can sometimes be. The author played with incomplete information from POV characters in a way that threw me off at first, but created suspense and definitely kept me on my toes. Some of the scenes and details really threw me back to the early days of motherhood, and it was interesting trying to untangle who I was supposed to feel more sympathy with in some of the conflicts.
