As I progress through this series, I am starting to grow fond of the characters. Although the book is called Septimus Heap, the story interweave all the characters and their thought pattern.

Trying to finish the Septimus Heap series this year! I know I read this one before as a kid, but something about it isn't quite as fun or magical as the first. Maybe it's Simon being an absolute dunderhead.

If there's one thing I hated about this book, it's how absolutely awful Simon Heap is to EVERYONE in his family. He was even nasty to his mother who showed him only concern and love. F*ck you Simon.

I'm looking forward to book 3 now!

It didn't hold the same glamour that the first book did for me, but it was still interesting! Not as good as the first one, but it was still okay. The story line kinda dragged on a bit.

didn't finish the book. It was to much like others that I have read and needed something different.

I am really enjoying this series so far, the second book took a turn I was NOT expecting, How much had Simon changed in year was just MAD, he was willing to hurt his family to get what he wanted. I love the family aspect of this series, Septimus finally meets all his brothers in this one. Jenna and Nicko and Septimus go on an adventure again, there are rescues, reunions, revenge and DRAGONS...
I feel that the magic system isn't really explained that well I mean sometimes charms are involved sometimes not but how can a dragon change into a boat.
