I thought it was fine. Nothing amazing or terribly wrong with it. I just decided to read the reviews to see what happens and I’m satisfied with that. Nothing is really calling me to finish it.

K-drama inspired YA novel about Chloe Chang, recent high school graduate who has grown up in Oklahoma. She doesn't feel 100 percent Korean because she’s never known any relatives other than her mother who immigrated from Korea when Chloe was a baby. Her father died shortly after they arrived and Chloe doesn't know any other family member until one day a 23andMe DNA test reveals her extended family on her father's side in Korea...and they are filthy rich. I couldn't put this book down, even with the weird organ donor part. Really fun and fast-paced summer read.

I was excited to read this book but I felt like it took me forever to read it. The plot was definitely slow in some area but it had its moments that I enjoyed. The surprising moments sadly weren’t enough for me to be excited to see what would happen next.

This had all the makings of an outrageous kdrama, but it just fell flat. I saw some other reviews saying she was naive not to see what was happening, but to be honest, an 18 year old who is so hopeful for connection to her family is GOING to be naive BECAUSE she’s blinded by that sheer desire to have family. I knew something was hinky very early on, but didn’t know what. The end definitely left it open to a potential sequel, but eh. I just didn’t love how it all played out by the end.

I didn't quite feel like this deserved to be a three-star book... but not a two star either.

I had very high hopes at the very beginning, but after the first chapter it went downhill really fast. What I mean by downhill is the writing became very... "stereotypical teenager talk" that is the best way I can explain it. It just seems very on the surface, and it doesn't go in depth. There were several places that could have gone deeper but didn't quite get there.

This book was about a girl (Chloe) who finds out the father she never knew (he died before she was born) was from a very rich family in South Korea. Long story short she goes there trying to find out more about her father and his family and to "find herself", but it's not the perfect picture she imagined. At the end of the book, she finds a deeper connection with her dead father.

BUT the ending is what bugged me the most!!! When she finally realizes she doesn't need the validation of her father's family to KNOW her father could have been deep and moving. What could have been a powerful moment.... just wasn't. It was very on the surface (sorry if I use that phrase too often) and sugarcoated.

Overall, it was good. I probably wouldn't read it again though. For an age recommendation I personally would say 14+ only because there was a slight amount of swearing and also there is a party scene where a boy hints at mature themes.

this is the most ridiculous book i’ve ever read. i was expecting penthouse. i was expecting reborn rich. instead all i got was a bunch of drivel narrated by the world’s most clueless protagonist.

I've been wanting to read this ever since it came out - I even preordered it - but it took me almost two years to read it. I'm so glad I finally did though, because this was so much fun to read! It was filled with so much  family drama, but it never felt too heavy. The main character is a huge K-drama fan and this book read so much like one! I just found out the author has a new book out literally this month, so I will definitely be picking that up. And maybe, hopefully there might be a sequel to this one eventually, because it definitely has the potential for one!
