And Frodo and Sam became best friends, happily ever after. Great book, not as smooth as the first, but Frodo and Sam and Gollum’s section is 5/5…especially Sheldob. Excited to see the King return.

Amazing book. Reading it through I am noticing how Tolkien pays so much attention to the linguistic differences. Very realistic in its descriptions and world-building, but this means that it's much slower paced as well. Very excited to read the final book :))

..... I'm not sure what could be said about The Lord of the Rings that hasn't already been said (or written in a book) (or studied in a college course) (or... you get the point). .... The reason for writing such a lengthy 'review' on this book is really to encourage anyone who was nervous to pick up the book version of this famous story, TO DO SO. .....

Even though I'm reading them, this time, in their separate volumes, I still think of The Lord of the Rings as one book so my review is really for the whole trilogy together...

I first read The Lord of the Rings when I was eleven years old and it immediately became my favourite book and an obsession that dominated my every waking thought. More than twenty years have passed, more than twenty rereads have occurred - nothing has ever come remotely close to unseating it.

I don't really know what else I can say - this book is perfection and I wouldn't change a thing. Everyone should read it. Everyone should love it. I practically know the book by heart now and it can still make me cry.

Best book ever written and I will continue to die on that hill!

- As a side note, I'm listening to the Andy Serkis narration for the first time and it's honestly excellent! I have unreasonably high standards for any adaptation of Tolkien's work and I'm so happy with this! Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to try an audio version!
