Beginning in 1969 in New York City, four siblings visit a fortune teller.
Each sibling receives a prediction of when they will die.
Each sibling receives a prediction of when they will die.
Interesting plot, writing and characters were less so.
- Interesting story that blends a magical element of knowing when you'll die to everyday life but it felt lie the author made these characters unrealistic as she tried to make them realistic?
- Odd physical references in descriptions that I did not like.
- Youngest brother should have been aged up a in beginning of his narrative for the experiences he was having. Felt like the book was trying to be edgy with his age and I did not like it.
- Each sibling is kinda annoying.
- Are we all just self fulfilling prophecies?
- Random political ideas that the author doesnt seem to be discussing...but attempting to convince the audience. I think the intent was to develop characters' perspectives but it came off weak.
- I wanted to emotionally connect to the characters..but I struggled.
- Eddie O'Donaghue is the most interesting character in the book and his impact on the siblings.
- The more I think about this book the more I dont like it. Maybe I'm sick of family drama lit fic that is just trying to 'shock' you.

I rarely enjoy multiple perspective books as much as I did this one! It was a good read and made me cry/tear up more than once. There is one bit with animal violence that bothered me, so if that bothers you there's some of the last section that is hard to read, but even with that, it was a great read.
Not quite dark enough to fulfil the potential of the first chapters but a decent enough story. I wanted to be left slightly haunted but was disappointed.
