Amy Harmon is a wonderful storyteller and this was a great story! But I struggled so much with the fantasy genre. It definitely was the wrong time for me to try this book. But I’m glad I finished, I enjoyed the ending.

MMC treated FMC like an object and she acknowledged that, then promptly ignored it anyways. Dumb.
I just love this book. It’s a comfort re-read and it still gets to me every time. The magic and world building are so good and I love Lark and her quiet strength. Objectively, I do wish there was more explanation about the Volgar and Tiras could have been more fleshed out, especially as the love interest. Still, this story hits me in the emotional feels and that’s what makes it five star to me.

- The book started out really strong and I really enjoyed it and thought that it was cool, but it just lost steam for me and I wasn't interested anymore
- The beginning was really cool and I loved the writing style! The magic seemed really cool and I liked how everything was described and played out
- I honestly just became bored with the story. I just started listening to the audiobook less and less, and I haven't picked it up in a few weeks because I'm just not invested anymore and got bored with the story.
