i finished this book with my teeth clenched out of anger. i hated every single character in this story especially eleanor, which i skimmed almost all of her parts. the side characters stories were heavily neglected. the story is so shallow, i felt no emotion throughout the whole book. the characters believe they're far more interesting than they actually are. i don't care about any of this!

Beautiful prose, yet the mix of POVs occasionally felt a bit cluttered. For my first reading, Mellors’ focalisation shifts drew away from the intimacy of Cleo/Frank’s relationship.
