So this is like a 3.5 star novel. There was a quote that almost made me spit out my drink I laughed so hard. I do not want to ruin the moment so I am not listing it here... let me know if you read this book. The book was slightly predictable. The intro bit with the person bleeding was kind of lame now that I think about it more. This was an easy to read book, and an enjoyable one. I feel it would be good for YA crossovers into adult thriller as it was more suspense and not as gross as some adult novels can be.

A beach read for me! Couldn’t put it down. The storyline was gripping and the twisted ending was spectacular. Caught the reading bug again after speeding through this one.

tbh the tension comes moreso from the fact that you know going in it’s going to be a mystery thriller, yet everything happening seems so benign than it does the actual plot. I really liked how each character’s past was woven into why they ended up at Meroe and why they were behaving as they were. I didn’t really feel like Lux’s ending made complete sense from how she was presented but I wasn’t dissatisfied by the conclusion.

I devoured this book in a couple of sittings. The story follows Lux and her boyfriend Nico, who are hired by two best friends, Brittany and Amma, to take them to an isolated island on Nico's boat. When they get to the island, they realize they aren't the only ones there and meet a vacationing couple, Jake and Elise. Things are going great until another stranger shows up and that's when things start to get interesting.

At first, this book felt a bit slow going but it did start to pick up and had me wanting to keep reading to find out more. This book does have some flashbacks to the past that give some information on the characters and their backstories. The ending wasn't bad and I did enjoy the twists and turns throughout the book. However, I was left with some questions as there were some plot holes. There was also some suspension of belief required as well. That being said, I did enjoy the book and thought the writing was well done.

I liked- but didn't love this book. A slow burn starting off, with a slightly somber middle- however it more than made up for that by the end.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved this one as an audiobook. Many of the characters had different accents and listening to it as an audiobook helped with character development, in my opinion. The narrator was fantastic and it was a very quick read (listen). I was intrigued the entire time and there were some plot twists I didn't see coming. It keeps you wanting to find out what happens next and how people are connected. I did connect the dots for the most part on this one, some were a little predictable. But, overall good book!
