enjoyed it a lot!
The storytelling is what makes this book 4.5 stars for me.
It's written just like an old folklore story that you can set and read to the children.

Very well-paced, and the setting and characters are made of a prince, a thief, a spymaster, a diviner, and more. Plus the magic.

Loved the different points of view of the characters. we have about three main characters that lead the story.
The characters neither are good nor evil, they are more grey type. they are more like us, they have their good points and bad points and only the decisions they make throughout the story will tell if they are leaning more toward the villain or the hero.✨️

out of all of them, my fav is Fane, I love how his character is designed. he is dangerous and lethal and when he strikes he kills but when you get to know him he is more gentle and kind than anyone else.

the best part is you never know what will happen next.

Highly recommended!

As expected the corgi stole the show! I loved this book. The only welsh mythology and creepy forest had me invested the whole time. I like Emily Lloyd-jones writing a lot as well

I unfortunately stopped reading it about half way through. I just got bored. It was a really good start and seems to be a really good story. I just stopped wanting to read it. Characters are good. I've also been in a series mood alot lately, and because this is sort of a standalone, I just didn't care to finish reading it.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC for this book.

If you've had any conversation with me at all, you'll know that The Bone Houses is one of my favourite books of all time - so it's safe to say The Drowned Woods is one of my most anticipated reads of the year.

And, man, it did not disappoint. The Drowned Woods takes a world built on history, ancestry and myth and expands it so such a degree it feels tangible. Instilling humanity in her world and her characters is what Emily Lloyd-Jones does best, and The Drowned Woods truly is a perfect example of that.

As in The Bone Houses, The Drowned Woods takes the themes of family and belonging and weaves them expertly into a typical fantasy plotline (ie, The Quest™ or The Heist™). Sure, the plots are cool, but in the end, you fall in love with the characters.

I, personally, didn't connect with this as much as I did The Bone Houses, mainly because my boy Ellis isn't in this one, but that's fairly inconsequential in the scheme of things.
