What a wild ride this was. But I had such a good time reading this story. I loved the organization of the book, and that the chapters were pretty short. I loved the concept, the writing was great and the author did a wonderful job painting a mental picture of each scene (which made some scenes a little weird to read through I won't lie but that's what I love about horror so this isn't a negative for me). I wish there was an epilogue or something just cause I was having such a good time reading it.

ā€œWe girls are taught from an early age that we are demonstrably inferior to our male counterparts. We are smaller, weaker, stupider. When we succeed, itā€™s only because men allow us to.ā€

We support womenā€™s rights, and womenā€™s wrongs; but most importantly, we support women getting therapy instead of eating eyes in the middle of the night.

This book was wild from start to finish, and Iā€™m not sure any words I can muster would do the experience of reading this enough justice.

Iā€™m a big fan of female rage/revenge stories, and this was certainly one of the better ones! Kim does an excellent job at helping you feel for Ji-won and everything her and her family are going through, even when you know youā€™re rooting for the ā€œbad guyā€.

And the descriptions for some of the gorier scenesā€¦it had my stomach churning. Iā€™m once again very glad to not be a meat-eater!

I read this as part of a buddy read with some incredible people;
A brilliant choice, but letā€™s steer clear of eyes for the next one at the very least šŸ‘€šŸ˜‚

The synapsis tells you the plot, but this is really about diving into racism, sexism, social classes, and many other hateful practices that our society is built on in the USA. The direct call outs on behaviors and stereotypes of men are great discussion pieces on their own and I think this would make a great book club pick. Though, it is not for the faint of heart.
(also FINALLY a revenge story that doesn't start with r*pe)

One of the creators I watch on YouTube got this as an arc and they made it some so fascinating I had to go and get a copy of it myself. I was intrigued by the plot and I decided I had to read it. When I got approved for it I was beyond happy and jumped right in.

I loved this book. I loved loved loved this book. Ji-won is a fascinating main character. You really get to know her over the course of the book and get a very intimate look at her life, both inner and outer. I love her relationship with her family. Especially with her sister. I ended up deeply caring for every member of this family by the end of the book. Except George. George is absolutely terrible and I hated him but youā€™re supposed to.

The atmosphere in here was horrible in a good way. There is such a sense of creeping dread in the entire book and it ramps up so slowly that I was on the edge of my seat for the entire read.

The writing in this was absolutely beautiful. Some of the best lines Iā€™ve ever read were in this book. And while the writing is beautiful some of the scenes were downright disgusting (again in a good way). The way that things were described made me ill at several points but I just couldnā€™t put this down.

Even though I loved this and Iā€™m giving it 5 stars I 100% donā€™t recommend this for everyone. Itā€™s chock full of very disturbing and graphic content. Please check trigger warnings before you read to make sure you can handle it. With that said this was amazing and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
