This was even better than the first book. I love the cultural exchange aspect of this with Izra and Oren not just getting to know each other but form an understanding of Izra's culture. Their dynamic is VERY fun, lowkey fell first vs. fell harder vibes. I love how dedicated Izra is, and I love how openly Oren loves men. Me too dude.

El crushazo que tengo con Izra... Lo mucho que entiendo a Oren... Simplemente *muy* comprensible.

I loved the first one but I loved THIS ONE even more! The narrator Gary killed it with the voices once again. I think this one moved a lot quicker than the first one, and while I don't think the characters motivations/dispositions changed too much throughout the story, this didn't bother me too much by the end. Enough things did change: so much more of the backstory and history of the world opens up (and answers questions I had from the first book), there's another twist I didn't see coming, and it was very fun to watch the characters dance around each other, even though Oren had already somehow kinda-sorta promised himself to Izra without even knowing. 😂

The women were more important and featured in this one than the first one, and I much preferred the ensemble cast compared to the first book. Everything feels stronger and more fleshed out. Speaking of flesh I could have used more explicit scenes 🤭 but the moments they have are extremely good! Also I really like that the conflicts the main characters face aren't centered around homophobia. It's refreshing to read a book esp in a fantasy/medieval-style world that doesn't make homophobia a touchstone. I am sooo looking forward to when I can get my hands on the audiobook of the third one! Thank u Seth Haddon for bringing me such joy, I am very grateful 🙇‍♀️🩷

Very quick world building but easy to follow and so interesting! Would have been okay if their story spread into more than one book to go into more depth with the religion, conflicted, and fated history. Loved the characters! Two main dudes were just too adorable.
