We’re almost to the clearing at the end of the path. TDT Book 6 is complete, which means only one left 😭
What a mind blowing journey this has been. This book, like the rest, was incredible, and I’m sad that it will soon come to an end.

I loved the dark tower series they were so much fun to read. I got to live in another world, a weird one. But there's love and crazy creatures and a train and doors that appear from no where.
Ik vond de verschillende invalshoeken in dit boek heel interessant.

Two main gripes with this one.
Firstly King writing himself into the story was initially extremely offputting. By the end I was less frustrated with this as he handled the resolution well, but still not convinced it was the right choice to begin with.
Secondly I just miss Mid-World, I don't gravitate to fantasy so that I can spend time in New England.

So it only took me six days to read this one, ha. It's funny, because while apparently I ploughed through this book at a breakneck pace and obviously enjoyed it, it also felt... very empty? Very little happened. I really, really dug Roland & Eddie's adventures in Maine escaping their hit squads and puzzling out the meta, but really, only two things of note happen in this book (one in each branching storyline). Though the Susannah & Mia storyline is horrifying -- pregnancy things really weird me out -- and I grew to like Mia by the end, as an ambiguous antagonistic figure. I like that she wasn't cut-and-dried ~evil~.
I'm curious what my experience would'e been like with this series if I'd had to wait years between them. I don't feel quite ready to move on to the last one, and I can't believe I'm there already, but I'm also ready for it to end? augh I don't know, but I do know I'm very excited to reach the end.
The meta's getting heavy. I wasn't quite sure how to feel about the scenes with -- too much? bearable? I don't know. But. When I reached the very end:

I don't know how or why, but I almost started crying on the subway when I read the last page with the newspaper headline and Stephen King's death notice. There's something just so strangely awful to me about a writer killing himself via his fiction. I imagine it was a sorta cathartic, existentially terrifying move to pull, and I found it utterly chilling -- and made me wonder what was going through King's head when he put that down on the page, when he decided to kill himself. It shook me up.
