if they don’t see the dark tower i’m gonna be pissed
This was my least favorite of the Dark Tower series. It has the feeling of being a transitional book. It isnt bad, just that the action and story have been so strong that aside from the opening and closing scenes, it simply feels as if the pace of Roland's journey has slowed so dramatically that I'm wondering if it will pick up again.
This book made me nervous - all the different story lines. I worried (still worrying, actually) about all the characters in their various times. Thought Stephen King was fun inserting himself into the story.
I totally get why this book has a lower reputation than the preceding books in the Dark Tower series: it ends on a cliff-hanger, it stays almost exclusively on Earth, and Stephen King writes himself into the narrative.
I don't mind any of these things, so I liked SONG OF SUSANNAH. The Coda at the end seems indulgent, but stay with it -- the final few sentences of it were completely unexpected. I'm dreading reading the final book, because after that, there's no more. It feels like the series could go on and on, but it kind of feels like King is deciding to finish this series before it finishes him.

I enjoyed this book, although the self-referential bits seemed a little egotistical, whilst at the same time fitting perfectly in with the story.
I am enjoying seeing how this story/world fits in around SK's other books.

This book is pedal-to-the-metal, guns out, blaze of glory fun. The action starts almost immediately and lasts the entirety of the book. That being said, even though it’s a plot-driven book, the character building of Susannah was very impactful and devastating. It’s going to be hard for me to try and take a break from this series before reading the final installment.
