I really love this kind of horror. I had a lot of fun reading this; the humour was pretty funny, it had a few really scary moments and the ending was surprisingly sweet. It felt a little too short, I wanted to know way more about the strange main character (what the hell was she even doing on the dating show to begin with??). The second half is where it becomes a slasher but I also felt that went by far too quickly, as if it was trying to get the characters out of the way rather than giving time to breathe within kills. A lot of questions, especially about the members of the island group, went unanswered in a way that didn't satisfy me. Would recommend this though, if not just for a quick, weird and funny queer read about. Found family? And sasquatches.

Strong descriptions of violence, body mutilation and murder committed by a sasquatch creature. A character is grieving the death of her wife from cancer (this is mentioned in the beginning of the book). Some minor misogyny and racism towards the main character from a shitty guy, and some mild homophobia from a religious character. One mention of the D slur. Another character is mentioned multiple times to have alcohol problems. The main warning I would give is the gore: although the book retains a playful and comedic tone, there's a lot of dismemberment and bludgeoning

Loved this book sm! Had expected it to be more horror than satire and felt the horror lacked a tiny bit, but everything else made up for it. Such a fun, strange little book and haven’t read anything like it. This was really the perfect reading experience. It was fast paced, funny and strange enough to make it a memorable read.

Addictive, gruesome and bloody fantastic. 

This book took a massive turn that I didn't expect at all! I was hooked from page one. This was a brilliant and dark ride. Perfect mix of horror and laughs. Loved it.

The Catch is the world's biggest reality show and the four remaining ladies, Renee, Amanda, Vanessa and Lilah-Mae along with the eligible “catch”, Jeremy, arrive on a remote wooded island for the final. 

But the island holds a secret and the final might be their last chance at life. 

This is remarkable, a queer horror laced with dark humour about a reality show like Love Island or The Bachelor that turns into a creature feature. Most of the contestants are self obsessed media darlings who only care about their image, likes and aesthetic. The production team are jaded and conniving, feeding them secrets about each other to get the dramatic reaction the show and viewers feeds on. The island is beautiful and isolated, the locals friendly and it turns out, very protective of their home and its special resident. 

The horror is mild I feel but the story is so good and it is a really quick read. Never read anything like it but I loved it!
