couldn't get into this at first.. got progressively better after 40%
Cute story. Friends to lovers with a bit of a soul mate curse twist thing going on. The main character is in a wheelchair and I thought the author did a great job of trying to portray it in a realistic way without making it her whole personality.

This book is exactly what I needed to get my mind off studying. I have been in a bind for the past month I was feeling like I was about to fall into a slump and this book dragged me back up and didn't let it happen.
I loved revisiting the Green Valley universe and seeing new characters within the small town. Can't wait to read the second book in the series

Sometimes my brain struggled to remember that we were just friends. She'd never dated, never even hinted that she wanted to. She'd never given me a longing glance. Never stared at my mouth like she wondered what it tasted like.
But my hands never, not once, stopped wanting to reach for hers.
Oh my goodness. I loved this book! And the new cover? I need a physical copy!
I’ve been loving friends to lovers stories lately, and this featured another obscure trope I love: when the guy’s family has a curse for “love at first sight”. Because that’s what happened to the hero, Levi.
At 18, Levi met Joss (16) while he was helping to coach basketball. Immediately after meeting “officially”, she whooped his butt when they both played basketball in wheelchairs. (Joss was diagnosed with transverse myelitis at 14 and has been wheelchair bound since then.) He immediately asks her out but she isn’t in the right place to start thinking about dating, so she asks if they can be friends.
Five years later, they are best friends, and Levi is so stupid in love with her, and Joss has no idea.
This was such a wonderful story and I loved Levi and Joss together and separately. Levi is an absolute sweetie pie - he has a habit for collecting/remembering items that are the exact blue shade of Joss’ eyes. Joss is a prickly pear who is learning to open up to people and be vulnerable. I’m a sucker for pining even though I wanted to shake Joss and be like YOU DESERVE HIM STOP.
My complaints: There’s a semi-love triangle for the first half of the book which I never love. I felt like after the first half Joss’ PT sessions were completely abandoned and I really enjoyed reading about them and her goals and feelings around pushing herself. And finally - although it was a fit for Levi, I was bummed that at the end of the book
“You don't hate me." He matched my tone. "You may not like me right now, but you don't hate me, Jocelyn Abernathy. It scares the hell out of you that your wheelchair doesn’t bother me, that I don't care that you're the prickliest woman I've ever met in my life, and that I’m not running off because your legs don't work the way you want them to.”

they moved out of Green Valley. I thought when Joss was noticing all the cracks in the sidewalks and looking for all the good/kindness in Green Valley, it was hinting at her staying and making a different there.“You don't hate me." Friends to lovers isn’t my favorite troupe but I loved the Washington Wolves series and thought I’d give this one a shot. I enjoyed it but I just couldn’t quite connect to the characters the way I did in the Washington Wolves series.
The editing errors kept pulling me out of the story. The author seemed to be allergic to the word "a." Argh. I enjoyed the story beyond that. I just wish it had a better copy editor. I've come to expect better quality from the Smarty Pants Romances.
Cute.
This was a bit slow for me. I don’t feel like anything happened until I was already 60% into the book. I think it was cute and am looking forward to read about the rest of the Buchanan’s, though.

Tropes: small town, best friends to lovers, virgin fmc, disability rep
Review:
I haven’t fully this book yet, I’ve got 73 pages left but wanting to post my thoughts now! Before I leave decent phone wifi as I’m going at the airport hotel tonight 🥳
This was my first book by the author, and whilst this one isn’t that great. I’ll defo be checking out her sports romance series!
This one to me, fell a bit flat.
It was a freebie a little while ago, and I should of maybe stopped reading when I was about 30% in as I just wasn’t enjoying it.
The main couple was annoying me, I felt like they was both childish and seemed younger than ages of 21.
I also got annoyed at the side character Joy, god knows how many times she said - isn’t it/ that romantic
Don’t think she knew many other sentences😂
